DeLorean - The Companies

DeLorean company and executive images

These pages focus on the main companies involved with the DeLorean project along with the leading men that played an integral part in building the DeLorean dream.

From Giorgetto Giugiaro at Ital Design, where the idea become reality, through to the DeLorean Motor Company Inc, the parent company which signed the dealers, raised capital and ultimately orchestrated the process until the end. Then there is DeLorean Motor Cars Ltd - the production company based in Northern Ireland, who with invaluable input from Lotus Motor Cars Ltd, designed and developed the DMC-12 from prototype through to production.

Lastly, we cover some of the key companies involved in DMC-12 conversion, including Legend Industries Inc – who were commissioned to develop the DMC-12 twin turbo project – which had this made it through to production, would have seen the DMC-12 with speed and power to compete with even the best performance cars of the generation. We then cover some of the important work undertaken by the UK company Wooler Hodec, who was commissioned to develop right-hand drive configurations for the DMC-12 as a possible route into European markets.
