Project 2 - Extensive DeLorean Frame Repairs
Due to the age of some DeLoreans, the chassis frames have started to corrode. Usually this is a result of curb stone impacts, or ‘grounding out’.
This damage often leads to a cracked epoxy coating, which leaves the frame exposed. Over time, weather conditions and surface moisture attack the frame, causing rusting and serious corrosion damage.
This page outlines a recent chassis frame repair carried out on a DeLorean which had suffered rear-end collision damage.
Also note that all replacement frame sections are stainless steel.
The pictures (above) indicate the project starting point. You can see the collision damage, and the damage to the epoxy coating of the frame.
The first picture (left) shows the pattern section before folding. The second picture (right) shows the new sections, ready to be tacked and welded into the car.
Project complete! The pictures (above) show the new sections in place and the DeLorean is back to normal - even with its frame number plate back on!
